Visualping is a good general tool being asked to do a job with a 30-second deadline. The check-quota arithmetic is what decides this one.

Where Visualping is the better tool
For anything that is not a rental search, it is the better tool and it is not close. Watching a competitor's pricing page, a government form, a course catalogue or a restock, all jobs where hourly or daily is fine and you want a screenshot diff, is exactly what it is built for, and Notifio does none of that.
It is also cloud-based, so it keeps checking while your computer is off, and it has a free tier you can try in two minutes without installing anything.
Where the arithmetic breaks for rentals
Start with the quota, because it is the part people discover in week two. Visualping meters usage in checks: one check is one look at one page. Watching a single rental search continuously at its fastest advertised interval of two minutes is about 720 checks a day, which is roughly 21,600 a month, more than the 10,000 included in the $70 Personal plan, for one search. The free tier's 150 checks a month, at hourly intervals, works out at around five checks a day.
Now the interval itself. Two minutes is the fastest tier Visualping sells, and a competitive rental listing has collected replies inside that window. Notifio checks every 30 seconds as standard, on every monitor, with no quota, because the checking happens on hardware you already own rather than on infrastructure somebody has to bill you for. That is the real reason the pricing models differ so much: a cloud watcher pays for every check and must charge for it, and a desktop app does not.
Then the nature of the comparison. Visualping tells you a region of a page changed. Rental result pages change constantly for reasons that are not new listings, such as advert slots, result counters, relative timestamps and the order of sponsored placements, so you either tune a selector per site or accept false alerts. Notifio compares the listings, so an alert means a listing appeared, and the email contains the link to it.
And the login problem. A large part of the good supply sits behind a session: Facebook Marketplace, some Kamernet views, agency portals, university boards. Notifio uses a browser session you create yourself; a cloud checker fetching a URL does not have one.
Common questions
Can I just use Visualping's free plan for a rental search?
You can set it up, but the free tier checks at most every 60 minutes and allows 150 checks a month across 5 pages. In a market where a listing takes its first ten replies within minutes, hourly checking is closer to a record of what you missed than an alert.
What about Distill.io or another page-change watcher?
The same arithmetic applies to all of them, with different numbers. Any service that runs the check on its own servers has to meter it, and metered checking and 30-second intervals do not coexist at a consumer price. Tools that run the check on your machine, which is what Notifio does, have no reason to meter it.
Why does Visualping give false alerts on rental sites?
Because it compares the page rather than the listings. Result counters, advert slots, 'posted 3 minutes ago' timestamps and rotating sponsored placements all change without a new property existing. You can narrow it to a selector per site, which is work, and which breaks when the site redesigns.
Is Notifio just a Visualping for rentals?
In shape, yes; in the details that matter, no. It runs locally so checking is unmetered, it compares listings rather than pixels, it can use a logged-in session, and it can fill in contact forms. It also does nothing else at all, which is the trade.
