Why Zoopla is a second monitor, not a second-best one
Zoopla carries a meaningfully different mix of agents from Rightmove. Plenty of smaller lettings agencies list on one and not the other, and in some cities the difference is large enough that searching only Rightmove means not seeing a third of the market. That, rather than anything about alert speed, is the case for having a Zoopla monitor.
Zoopla's own mechanism is the saved search: you save it, and Zoopla emails you about matches on a frequency you set in your account, with push notifications available in its app. It works, it is free, and if it is all you have then it is much better than nothing. The shape of it is the same as every portal though, in that you are receiving the portal's summary of what it decided to tell you about, rather than seeing the search.
Notifio sits one level lower. It loads the search results page, compares it to the previous check, and emails you about anything new on it. You are not asking Zoopla to notify you, so there is no account, no frequency setting, and nothing that quietly stops working when a saved search expires.

Use the to-rent path and sort by newest
results_sort=newest_listings is the parameter that matters. Without it the page reorders for reasons unrelated to new stock, which makes for a noisier comparison.

Set your area precisely
Zoopla lets you search by postcode, station or drawn area. A tight area produces alerts you will actually act on; a whole-city monitor produces alerts you will start ignoring by Thursday.

Copy the URL and add it as a monitor
Name it after the area and ceiling. If you are also watching Rightmove for the same area, put both site names in the monitor names so the alert emails are self-explanatory.

Consider including 'let agreed'
Zoopla lets you include properties already let agreed. Including them means you hear about the ones that fall through, which is a real and underrated source of good flats.
